YOUR BRIDAL PORTRAIT
YOU'VE DREAMED OF THIS SINCE YOU WERE A LITTLE GIRL.
You've spent months or perhaps years deciding the color, style, and length of your wedding gown. You've imagined your hairstyle, the veil and your flowers. You know you're borrowing your mother's diamond earrings and carrying your grandmothers monogrammed hankerchief.
You shared the experience of choosing your gown with those you love the most. Since the day you said "Yes, to the dress", you've been filed with anticipation and joy! You can't wait to wear the dress, and be a bride.
The unfortunate reality is you only get to wear your perfect dress a few hours.
The dress you've dreamed about since you were a little girl gets worn a few hours then gets preserved in huge box, place in the back of a closet or under your bed for decades.
That's why here in the south brides take the opportunity to dress in full bridal regalia and have a one on one portrait session a couple months before their wedding.
Not only is it a right of passage but it's an opportunity to have a dress rehearsal with your photographer, hairstylist, makeup artist, and florist. It allows you to get an idea of the fit and movement of your dress. It's something you don't think about but walking and practicing with the train, veil, shoes and flowers is very important to your overall wedding day experience.
As soon as your dress is chosen you should contact us to schedule your bridal portrait session.

A Family Tradition born in Europe and continues today.
Before the invention of photography, in Europe bridal portraits were oil paintings commissioned by the bride's family to commemorate this special time. In the early 1800's bridal portraits were typically created at a photographers studio, due to the large camera's and bulky lighting. This is the portrait printed and classically framed becoming cherished family heirloom.
Today, it's not only a portrait to be displayed at brides parents home, but a part of the wedding day decor. Most brides have their framed portraits prominently displayed at the guest book or close to the entrance at the reception. It provides your guests who may have not had a close view during the ceremony an opportunity to admire the beautiful bride up close. Another way of continuing the tradition is to display years they may be display the portrait again at a daughter or granddaughters wedding. Think about what that would mean to your guest sharing the generations bridal portraits.
In fact I still have this dress. In college I photographed it for a still life assignment with the 4x5 View Camera.
